Unbelievable Show - has everything <3
Open to close one of my fav's of all-time...Jerry is at his peak, Phil just owns it with Billy, while Bob accompanies Jerry so well...I love it all, the sound check and tuning included, so it's missing two classic's which would've been great, but otherwise outstanding show...my first was at MSG in '78 as a long haired sophomore in a Queens NY Catholic HS...i was hooked and hundreds of shows later still loving them and this
site.is the best...better than the cassette boxes I had....loved Jack Straw, Chinacat/IKYR, Eyes, Morning Dew, Big River., Deal..heck the show has so much...

who cares
who cares if casey jones and sugar magnolia are missing. we already got more music here than the average show on this site. casey jones and sugar magnolia are not known for long played out jams. the meat of the show is contained here.
in addition to the sound check, "blue suede shoes' comon!! what more do you want?, plus no Donna in this show, I think this was the same tour as dix pix 1, which said in the liner notes that she was on maternity leave

GOOD SHOW FROM 73'
The sound is GREAT, and the music is solid. Just wanna say that Iam always curious how deadheads classify "periods" of GD music... say for example the duder(ette)wrote below that "this is the best dew" since... sometime in 72'. I wonder is that because its a different Band back then? Does every time the GD reinvents itself, or maybe reasserts itself is a better word, with rotating musicians, and picking new members up constitute a new 'period' of dead music? I dunno! but Ill love it just the same :)
just a side note, my personal favorite 'morning dew' is from 1977 May 8, Barton Hall, Cornell University NY. Absolutely smoking. As for this show. 5 stars for recoding and music no doubt. Thank you for posting!

great stuff
too bad about the sugar mag casey jones, but really the meat of the show is here, being the eyes-dew and peggy-o
this is the best dew since probably may 18-26 of 1972, and the peggy-o is classic. see the sound check as well. there is room to breath, room to extract each instrument, and frankly the musicianship is out of this world.
amazing for 35 years ago or more. still seems sharper than most anything else i've heard so far.

very nice, but incomplete
I only had time to listen to the Eyes > Morning Dew this morning. The audio quality is excellent with all instruments prominent in the mix (Phil seems to drop in and out but that just may be my crappy headphones).
Morning Dew was especially sweet, with some very impressive comping from Bobby and a nice group movement to bring the song to a powerful finale.
The sophistication of playing on these two tunes is incredible (this is not your typical rock and roll band!).
Unfortunately, Sugar Mags and Casey Jones are missing from the tail end of the show.

Critical upgrade
Important upgrade from one of the band's most important periods.
